Computer Programmer Mentor
We have a student who wishes to be a computer programmer.  Due to a number of traumatic events in his family, he has lately gotten off track.  Currently there is no adult postivie mentor in his life and would be benficial for him to meet and talk to someone who currently is a computer programmer.  My student is African American so meeting someone more like him who has already met this goal could be powerful.  This person might want to meet with him only once, or take him to a jobsite to explore.  An ongoing metorship would also be good.

Lanier Mentor Moms Program
The Mentor Moms and Dads Program at Lanier would match our teen parents up with parents in the community.  The purpose would be for the teen parents to learn more about the responsibilities and benefits of being a parent from experienced parents outside of their immediate families.  My hope would be that this learning would happen through engaging in fun family-oriented activities outside of school that the teen parents might not normally access or know about.
