The training at the Communities In Schools central office consists of: - An introduction to what CIS is all about, policies, and procedures
- The experience you can expect to have as a CIS volunteer
- Situations you may encounter while working with your students
**Please note that Mentors must attend two different trainings- one before beginning their position and the second one month after beginning. Volunteers that serve as Special Event/One-time Volunteers do not need to attend training. One-time volunteers will be provided on-site training by the organizer of the event. Your training session will be scheduled when you meet with the volunteer coordinator at your initial interview. References must be turned in at that time. Placements are not permanent until you have met with the campus program manager and have attended our training. Interns Please Note: You will be required to attend a different set of trainings that will be discussed with you when you come in to sign initial paperwork. Volunteer trainings take place at the CIS Central Office unless otherwise noted.
