SmartKids creates a safe environment for elementary, middle, and high school students to learn and have fun after school.

SmartKids meets weekdays in four different neighborhoods around Austin.  All students live in public housing managed by the Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA).  HACA provides SmartKids with space in their community centers so their young residents can continue to learn close to home.

The program provides students with homework help, academic support, individualized attention from a caring adult, opportunities to hear from guest speakers, special projects and field trips.

SmartKids also offers each student a nutritious meal prepared and delivered by Meals On Wheels and More.

SmartKids is an informal, safe environment that kids depend on in their neighborhood.

We need volunteers during after school hours, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in several locations:

Bouldin Oaks

Booker T. Washington

Santa Rita Courts
