Special Skills/Needs
No special skills are required, however different participating schools do have some specific needs, such as male/female mentors, bilingual skills, strong math/science interest, etc. Visit our Participating Schools list to learn more.

Successful mentors are good listeners, caring friends, dependable, patient, open minded, and loyal. Mentors are not expected to be babysitters, surrogate parents, counselors, or a taxi service.

Commitment
Mentors (Bigs) are asked to visit their mentees (Littles) 3-4 times a month. The minimum length of commitment is one year, however, the Middle School Mentoring program encourages mentors to consider nurturing a relationships that will last beyond the school year and even continue to develop into the future.
